Do you smell that? Do you? … Its that new website smell. Yes after several weeks sweating over a hot keyboard, my new portfolio site is ready for its debut. So whats so great about this site? Well I thought I’d dedicate this site first blog post to explaining the ins-and-outs of my site.

New Site… What For?

My previous portfolio site was built when I was 15. In all honesty, it wasn’t a bad site considering. But needless to say I have had some time to season as a designer and developer since then. The old site also had a lot of boring sales copy on “why you should have a website” and “why choose a freelancer… bla… bla… bla…” Out with it! The web is a place for people to connect, and so I speak on my site how I would speak face-to-face. This is my little corner of the web, so I wanted it to reflect the man behind the user interface.

Bells & Whistles

Now for all the cool stuff… be warned this might get a bit geeky. First and formost… my website is being powered by the almighty WordPress. To some of you this means nothing, to an elite few of you this mean everything. This is actually my first WordPress site and I can say that I am a true believer. The blog and portfolio items are all controlled dynamically in my Content Managment System. My site is written in xhtml 1.o strict, although I have started to implement some html5 techniques such as div and class naming conventions. I’m also proudly using such css3 techniques as @font-face for the typography and corner-radius elements. I just can’t wait for certain lazy browsers *cough.. IE… cough* to catch up to speed so that all can enjoy such features.

Well go ahead. Sniff around. Let me know what you think. And check back as I’ll be adding new features and content as time goes on.
